Why Christ Came: to teach
Jesus came to teach.
Why did Jesus come?
Jesus was remarkable. But he did not keep himself from the masses, like the kings and Caesar’s of the day did. He was approachable and imparted knowledge and wisdom through his teachings. He taught of love and the kingdom, of putting faith into action, and of mercy and grace. He taught of obedience and forgiveness. Jesus taught us what the newly reconciled relationship with our Creator was to be like, look like, feel like. He taught us how God sees us and how we can act in love toward one another. He came to preach the good news of God’s love. Mark 1:38 tells us of Jesus’s words: “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” He went to many people and many locations, teaching along the way. It is the power of his message that captivates us. It is the power of the message that make us new people. I wonder what messages his words will impart during His Season (you know, Christmas) as we gather together in celebration.
