Why Christ Came: to restore sight

He came to restore sight for the blind.

Why did Jesus come?

From the same verse, Luke 4:18, Jesus also came to recover sight to the blind. I find it interesting that we have so many sayings that refer to blindness or sight. A bat may be blind but has other means of finding direction and bearings. We too have other means to finding our location and bearing- Jesus. Was Jesus, and Isaiah, referring to the physical ability to see? If so, I am certain that we will be healed. Is he referring to the sight or vision of our own lives? That too will be revealed. Is he referring to what direction, or aim, is to be our own, or a project, or a mission? He will show the way. Is he referring to the vision of the prophets of old, telling of the plans of the Lord? This too we can be certain will be revealed.

He came to give us sight, vision, direction, and prophecy. This is freely made available to us through Jesus, we need only ask for it. Of course, then we must wait patiently and seek to understand the answer, however subtle it may be. He cares deeply for the physical and spiritual as well as the practical sight that we all have and need. This too is part of the ‘It is done’ from the cross; we need only seek Him to find our sight restored.
